Your forties are amazing. Most people by now have a career, a spouse, a house, maybe family…and a couple of cats. And you wake up one morning – and you no longer recognize the person sleeping next to you in your bed.
You go to work. You can’t believe what you do for a living. Your closest friend talks on and on. You can’t understand a word. You go to a meeting – you want to jump up on the table and break into song. What’s wrong with these people?!
Everything around you seems unreal…except for the laughter of the children...Like a far away call of your former self…..
“What’s happening to me?” you wonder. “Am I going crazy?”
According to Tama-Do, The Academy of Sound, Color and Movement®, you are just waking up. Welcome to “The Way of the Soul”. Or, as Bette Davis said, ‘Fasten your seatbelts; you’re in for a bumpy ride!’
It all started long ago, when you were just a spark in the Divine White Light. Everything was perfect; you embodied every color of the rainbow; except you just didn’t know it. So your Soul asks you to wake up.
Next thing you know, you’re packing your Akashic Records and your rainbow colors in your suitcase and jumping on the first bus to planet Earth. Then you are “densifying down” from pure light into a human feeding machine. And finally you’re being pushed through the tiniest little tube in the world! There’s no way you can fit all your Divine Light through that hole!
Your Soul knows this. And still it wants you to incarne. It knows that the life you choose: the parents, the community and loved ones, will be all the lessons you will need if ever you are to make your way Home again…back to the Light.
Tama-Do means “The Way of the Soul”. Your Soul leads the way. It’s your choice whether you follow. Nobody said it would be easy.
At the beginning of life, there doesn’t seem to be much of a plan. You are just a baby: food goes in and food goes out. 14-21 you develop your Emotional Body, helping you to sift and sort through life’s challenges. 21-28 you develop your Mental Body. You talk for hours to your comrades. You want to save the world.
28-35 begin wondering about your ancestral lineage. Where have you come from? Where you are going? You start to ask questions about your aunts or your grandparents…trying to find the link to your self. You re-read your diaries. You start to wonder if you’ve been here before…. You’re developing your Causal Body.
35-42, your Buddhic Body links you to the spiritual world. This is when you are looking down at that person sleeping next to you. Not only do you not recognize them, but you find yourself breaking into that old Peggy Lee song, “Is That All There Is?”
42-49 you develop your Atmic Body. The need to be one with the Source of White Light becomes more urgent.
You are entering a mid-life crisis, and your Soul is really happy. You are finally asking the Universe for help. Maybe this time, you will listen.
Unfoldment is like the itch deep within your subconscious that you can’t quite find.
Your Soul orchestrates the process through very precise cycles of nature which are linked with the larger universal cycles. Each one’s destiny is run by a different timing, according to one’s temperament, starting at the cellular level and ending up with the stars.
For some, unfoldment starts slow….it’s like a memory far far away. For others, it’s like a bolt of lightening. Suddenly you wake up yelling, “I have a mission!”
You divorce your spouse, sell the house, and travel around the world in search of your Path.
This is a time of achingly deep challenge. And your Soul is the Zen Master. You’ve spent 40-some years building your identity on a human level: your mental, emotional and physical habits, your relationships with community, loved ones and family…
Your Soul now demands that you break from all that you know, if what you know, does not align with your Path….
This is unbelievably difficult to hear. It’s like an earthquake, shattering your entire structure of life, as well as a whole palette of beliefs inherited from your education, religion and culture. It’s like experiencing a death.
First there is shock, disbelief and anger. You may try to bargain and negotiate. Then there’s despair, and finally, grief.
You’re as fragile as a newborn babe, trying to make your way through what seems like impossible darkness. How do I synchronize with my destiny? What is my destiny? How do I access who I am? How do I reconcile my mission with my family and loved ones? What do I do if they can’t follow?
You feel completely alone. The waves of disbelief, anger and despair wash over you again and again….it’s all part of the process. Be patient. You can’t force enlightenment. And as annoying as it sounds, you cannot control the process. Forgive yourself, but do not give up. Keep asking your Soul for guidance.
Your Soul is the rainbow between heaven and earth. Your Soul is Divine Light. If at any time during this test, you cannot continue, she will simply withdraw and wait for another day. Your Soul has the infinite patience and love of eternity.

We are all linked on some level.
